Book Two Updates

The past couple weeks have been dedicated to laying the groundwork for each major character’s story through Book Two. This forced me to adjust the outlines for the plots as some of the events ended up being slightly out of character. Luckily for me, though—and eventually all Soja lovers—I get to write an entirely new Book Two arc for our favorite High Priestess. She now has my favorite character-specific arc; that excitement may spill over into the order of my writing, forcing me to write her character chapters first. Of course, all characters now have more detailed and intriguing arcs, but there’s just something about that Soja…

Over the weekend, the family and I traveled to northern Wisconsin. The endless sprawl of centuries-tall trees and lakes freckling the landscape was as serene and peaceful as ever. I think I know the perfect part of the world to incorporate this vermilion tranquility: the City on the Edge of the Mists, Cenph’na.

The Creeping Mists

This unseen city has significance for a major part of this novel, and I hope I can capture the eerie calm that comes with the isolation of the city and its surrounding areas. Cenph’na is just one of many new places our story will take us in Book Two. A few others to look forward to are the ancient kingdom of Jacindor, whose magnificent canals and tumbling falls have stood through several ages, a mysterious island Temple where the inhabitants have not interacted with anyone else in centuries, the Scholar City of Myranth and its massive libraries—and so many more fascinating locales.

The Immortal Words starts deep in the Seventh Age of Gods. I’ve built up the lore of all the previous ages with all the Gods and the mortals they eventually created. While a lot of this information likely won’t make it into final edits of the books, I may eventually write a compendium focusing on the ages or a couple novellas about the more interesting and important events in them. We’ll see how much interest people end up having for those down the road. If anything, I may upload and share the pages already written. Who knows!

Not a lot of new information on the publishing of The Immortal Words. I am, however, submitting to agents again. Hoping to get it in the hands of the right person to bring the world to you! Fear not, if Book One struggles to garner enough attention from agencies, I will be self-publishing and making the book available by the end of the year.

Hope all is well-
J.
